Terrible Hockey

East End, Toronto. A shinny game designed for anyone at any level who wants to have a good time on the ice.

What started as a few fully grown adults deciding “hey, should we learn to play hockey?” during the pandemic has blossomed into a league that embraces the suck. Through the years the group has grown to encompass terrible hockey players, and some not so terrible, from numerous countries and backgrounds.

As the group has progressed we've transitioned from skates and sticks to full pads and goalies. Some of us still struggle with the concept of offside, and some don't consider the blue line at all.

We are not a “league”. No standings, no refs, nobody keeping score for long.

We're all out for a good time, a good skate, solid sweat and some pints after. No egos, no stats, just a love of the game.

The hardware

7 awards, handed out at the end-of-season pub night. MVP and Most Improved are the respectable ones. The Brian Mahon Award goes to whoever tried hardest. Then there's Best Goal Hanger and the Matt Caccitollo Sick Note Award, which you do not want, and which the same man keeps winning anyway.
